Blogging and Marketing

Maybe by this time in the Ultimate Blog Challenge you are starting to question why you started. This is a lot of hard work to write a blog every single day and there are days that you just don’t think you can think of one more idea or write one more intelligent word. Well, don’t give up, not yet! Let me give you an energy boost and point out a couple of more good reasons you should keep at it.

Blogging and marketing go hand in hand. Below you will read why you should blog and be involved in blog challenges and even the benefits of being a guest blogger.

Start a blog – It doesn’t matter what kind of business you are running, you can still have a blog. If you are going to create a blog for your company, you should do the following: Host the blog on your domain name (blog.domain.com or domain.com/blog), write good content, and don’t constantly pitch your company in your posts. Create a community by responding to each blog comment.

Blog challenges are great in marketing your blog as well as raising the numbers on your blog.

Make comments on other people’s blogs.

Become a guest blogger – An easy way to get your company out there is to write guest blog posts on other blogs. If you write guest blog posts on other blogs not only will you get traffic and more branding, but you’ll also get links which will help your SEO efforts.

So there you are. I know you probably knew all these things and just needed a reminder. So dust off your keyboard and get back to writing those blogs.

List your blogs below I would love to take a look at them.

  1. Great motivational article, Shawn! You reminded me I need to round up some blog partners that want to be a guest blogger on my site. If you’re interested, feel free to shoot me an email using my address listed above my comment.

You know what helped me stay focused on blogging everyday so far? The blog editorial calendar plugin. Because I already had topics lined up for the whole month on January 1, I just wrote my articles ahead of time so I’m not scrambling everyday to get something published. Being rushed is a good way to deliver uninteresting articles if you ask me.

You already know where I blog is…you’ve commented on it! :)

Tracy that is so great to hear. My piece of advice is don’t worry about days you have missed schedule the days ahead of you. I haven’t visited your blog yet but if you use WordPress their is a plugin called editorial calendar and it is a lifesaver for planning out blogs.

  7. Thanks for some great tips and reasons to keep blogging, Shawn. Personally, I never have problems coming up with content ideas – it’s finding the time. One easy way to develop an interesting blog post is to start with a quote. It’s amazing how many interesting directions you can that relates to your subject or thinking by starting with something poignant someone else has quipped.

Hopefully during the challenge you have formed some relationships and you can ask them. You can even make a blog about looking for guest bloggers & to be a guest blogger for someone else. Leave the type of information your blog is about and how they can contact them. Hope that helps!
