Blogging Template Ideas

blogFor me it is always easiest to have a template to do different work. My theory is why reinvent the wheel if someone has already come up with a simple template to use in whatever work I’m doing I am willing to use it. And since we are working on our blogging skills I thought I would share a few blogging template ideas that I know and use during different times.

The first template I have used in blogging is the

5 paragraph Template:

This easy to use template is one that I learned in high school English and it has come in handy. There are five paragraphs each with its own job. The opening paragraph: tell what your subject is and your idea about that subject. Then the 1st paragraph talks about point A concerning your subject, the 2nd paragraph talks about point B concerning your subject, the 3rd paragraph talk about point C concerning your subject and then the last paragraph explains your subject again and each of your points. Of course, you can have as many paragraphs as you would like.

Day of the Week Template:

This template is fun and easy to use. You pick a fun adjective to go with each day of the week such as Motivational Monday, Terrific Tuesday, Wordless Wednesday, Throwback Thursday, Follow Friday, Sensational Saturday, and Social Media Sunday. So for each day of the week you write a blog that will fit into your theme for that day.

Alphabet Template:

We are all getting to know this template and while it may be hard to find a subject that fits the letter that you are supposed to be working with what this template does is narrows down the multitude of ideas running around in your head.  Of course, if you are having trouble coming up with a subject for the letter brainstorm for 5 minutes and write down any word that comes to your mind for the letter you are working on.

I hope these blogging templates help you come up with ideas for writing your blogs both now and as you continue on with your blogging journey. Remember, the 5 paragraph template is a great roadmap to get you from the beginning of your idea down to the ending paragraph where you wrap up your blog. The day of the week template is a fun and easy way to come up with a theme and an easy blog usually follows. The alphabet template gives you a specific letter to work with for that blog and you create around it.

Tell me which template do you think is your favorite?

Shawn, I love the “Day of the Week” template. I think I might go with this one after the Alphabet Challenge is done.
    Once again, a great post!

Awesome! Definitely love the “day of the week” template. What a great way to get more into the habit of writing daily. Not sure I could ever go daily, but even Monday, Wednesday Friday would work better. Thanks! Diana Ennen

I like the 5 paragraph idea. That really simplifies a regular text-based post – and keeps it from getting too wordy. (And I noticed that you used that one for this post.) :-)

  4. I have rather enjoyed this A – Z challenge so far. The initial gets you thinking about what topic you can use. Wondering what I’m going to do when I get to X and Z, though!

Love the “Day of the Week” template idea. I may have to borrow this for when I (finally) start blogging regularly.

  8. Shawn, I like the 5 paragraph template. It makes writing very easy.

LOL Gaynor, I have a freebie for you. Maybe X is for X-Factor. For Pop Speaking, it’s an interview with one of the previous winners to discuss life after winning or one of the judges to discuss what it takes to win the competition. For Typewrite, you’d do the qualities in a VA who has X-factor.

  9. Great post Shawn. This alphabet challenge I think makes it so much easier to find a topic to write a post about. There are so many words swimming around in your head that even if you take the smallest steps to narrow it down, it becomes so much easier to have a lightbulb moment and create a blog post.
