Introduction to Ultimate Blog Challenge

www.srsvirtualassistant.comHello and welcome to my blog! For those of you who are not reading this from the UBC let me explain what is happening. I participate in an event every 3 months called the Ultimate Blog Challenge. Click here for the link. After reading this if you want to join the challenge for April it’s not too late. I love the Ultimate Blog Challenge and plan on telling you all about it and why it’s so important to me.

If you are like most bloggers being consistent and relevant is what makes blogging so difficult. The UBC helps with these problems. This is not a contest nor a course the UBC is a challenge for you and your blog against the month. One of its goals is to get you to writing for your blog every single day for at least a month. This might sound tough but the two women who run the UBC, Michelle Shaeffer and Michelle Scism will send you daily emails loaded with ideas for you to write about. If you have more than one blog you can write a post for all of them as you go through the challenge.

The rule about UBC is there really aren’t any rules! If you miss a couple of days no big deal just pick up and start writing again, a.s.a.p.

This will be the 5th time I have participated in the UBC. My favorite part is the friends I make here. I have had two different writing series partners that I meet at the UBC. There are good folks here and all of us want you to succeed, whatever that means to you.

Here are a couple of suggestions that I use to get me through the UBC. I used the editorial calendar available as a plugin with WordPress. I brainstorm different ideas for the week and I sit down and try to write out 3-5 articles at one sitting. These are not long articles, usually right around 200 words. Also, you might need forgiveness, for yourself. This challenge is to build you up not tear yourself down. If you don’t make it through the whole challenge that is ok! It comes around every three months and you can try again. One thing I know for sure, you can’t hurt your blog by trying it and you just might learn how enjoyable it can be. There will be a network of over 1800 members cheering you on and you just might meet your next JV partner there.

If you aren’t too sure about joining this session yourself please follow me as I work my way through the month of April one blog at a time.

  4. Toni Nelson says:

I LOVE my editorial calendar! I’ve also decided to take part in the A to Z Blog Challenge at the same time. I will make my posts according to the A to Z rules and use those posts for both challenges. Double the exposure I hope:)

Hi Lee, I so agree with using this as a positive experience. There is no losing in trying the challenge of the UBC.

  6. Aye, I am back again. And going to try my hardest to actually blog every day. In January, I was proud of myself that I managed 2-3 posts a week most of the time. And I am prouder still that I have a blog that has been up for more than a month. But this time around I am going to make darn sure that I get one post out a day. I need more content after seeing I only have 27 posts since December lol.

Good luck Angie. Just making the pledge to yourself that you are going to do the challenge in April is a great first step. Blogging is a lot of hard work that is why I think the UBC is such a great tool. I look forward to watching for your blogs throughout the month.

Shawn, this is great. I’m going to take advantage of that planning ap, and I appreciate your kindness towards yourself. I’ll try not to lose sleep over this challenge, and to forgive myself if I do less than perfect! Thanks for the encouragement! This is my second UBC and I’m very excited about it!

Yay! I’m so glad you joined us on the UBC. It is great!

I love WordPress, its the only blogging platform I have ever used so don’t know much about the others. Here are some of my challenges with the other platforms I’ve encountered just through the UBC. There can be problems getting logged into the different platforms that are available, they make me go through so much work and ask for passwords that I don’t remember & am not going to take the time to find. I dislike putting the security measure of a word & or number to be approved.

I use a plugin to help with spam plus I use the editorial calendar plugin which I love.

  9. Mae says:

I get nervous participating in challenges like this, just because my blog is a personal life and style blog and doesn’t often resonate with others. Hopefully I can find some inspiration and have a good time at the same time!

Mae, that is the beauty of a blog there is somebody out there who will resonate with your blog messages. Its your job to find them. The UBC does a great job of giving you exposure. You will do great!
